“George, I didn’t tell you my dress was lavender.”

I remember that there was this one week during sophomore year in high school when my circle of friends ceaselessly debated as to whom between Kimberly (Cameron Diaz) and Julianne (Julia Roberts) was the better choice for Michael (Dermot Mulroney) in the movie “My Best Friend’s Wedding”.

And after 6 years I finally realize that yes, it is Kimberly and definitely not Julianne that should take Michael down the aisle. Well she did and I have never been relieved that the movie ended the way it should be.

Realizations:

• There will only be one Kimberly in the life of a Michael— one girl he will fall in love with 5 minutes after their first meeting and spend the rest of his life with, all that with out a speck of neither doubt nor effort.

• There is only one Julianne in the life of a Michael who would prove that neither longevity nor comfort can be enough to spark the romantic flicker.

• There will only be one George in the life of a Julianne who will live up to her pathetic life, maybe without marriage, or sex, but by God there’ll be dancing!
